STATEMENT
Celia Wilkinson was born in Bristol, UK, lives and works in the Isle of Wight off the South coast of England, she has a MA degree from MA from St Martins School of Art, UK and a BA from Brighton College of Art, UK. Her work is inspired by her studio surroundings in the Isle of Wight and became a visual diary as much about her personal journey and travel abroad. She avoids immediate visual representations and paint from memory, enabling her to capture the essence of a time and place. The influences of modernism is apparent in her work styles such as cubism, constructivism and European contemporaries who broke the traditions of landscape painting with their individual signature styles.
